No other city so seamlessly blends a super laid-back attitude with sophistication and a bohemian vibe. And nowhere does land meet water as seductively as in Sydney. Dip a toe in the Pacific, enjoy endless beaches...my all time favorite: Palm Beach. Surf Bondi just once in your life, don't miss Icebergs with waves crashing on the rocks below. If you are as lucky as I was to to be there in December and January you will experience one of the greatest moments on a summer morning when the surface of the water is swept by a huge flock of white sails. This is when one of the fastest and most challenging ocean races, from Sydney to Hobart kicks off and you have a prime spot to see it from Rushcutters Bay. Fall in love with this city while you gaze over the water and a draft of sea air hits you.

JOHN LAUTNER : One of my Favorite American Architects.
Influential American architect John Lautner combined progressive engineering with humane design, he realized over 200 projects during his career, the most stunning ones from1939 to 1992. Nearly all of Lautner's buildings are in
His distinctive use of the principles of organic architecture was influenced by his studies under Frank Lloyd Wright. Lautner's approach to architecture embodied many of Wright's philosophies and preoccupations, above all, the notion of a building as a total concept. Like Wright, his work also shows an obsession with essential geometric forms as well as the concern of integrating the house into its location and creating an organic flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. Many of Lautner's houses were placed in elevated locations or difficult sites, such as hillsides or seashores.
Today, John Lautner’s uniquely dramatic spaces feel very NOW, the below house was designed in 1949. The residence sits at the bottom of a woodland valley close to Los Angeles, it is mainly constructed out of redwood and glass. For sure not one of Lautner's better known projects, it still served as the backdrop of Tom Ford's über successful directorial debut A SINGLE MAN.
